Confident Maryeve Dufault Anxious For Toledo Speedway Return
TOLEDO, Ohio (October 12, 2011) - - After a solid 18th place showing at Kansas Speedway last Friday night, Sorel, Quebec Canada native Maryeve Dufault returns to Toledo Speedway in her No. 12 Mad Croc / Dodge Motorsports / Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger this weekend looking to end her first season of ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards in style with another good showing in Sunday afternoon’s Federated Car Care 200.
Rewinding back to Kansas Speedway for a minute, Dufault showed strength and speed despite a hiccup in qualifying which forced the Tony Marks Racing development driver to start the Kansas Lottery 98.9 from the rear of the field after a cut down tire caused her to spin but she miraculously kept her automobile off the wall; showing overwhelming car control coming to the completion of her first lap. Starting from the 32nd position without any damage to her hotrod, Dufault rocketed her Chrysler nameplate through the field to maneuver her seventh top-20 effort of the year and earn for her second consecutive race (Pocono and Kansas) the CGS Imaging Hard Charger award.
“We thought we could get a little bit more out of the car for qualifying, but we went too far on the adjustment causing my car to travel more than expected on the track, ultimately cutting down the tire on my first lap causing me to spin. Still, we were able to recover nicely in the race,” Dufault explained.
On the heels of two strong showings reverting back to Pocono (Pa.) Raceway in August, the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pilot now turns her attention towards short track beating and banging where on Sunday afternoon she is gunning for her second top-10 finish of the season and end her rookie season on a high note that will lean over into 2012.
“The last two races have been great and there is no reason we can’t move forward even further this weekend,” said Dufault. “A race like we had last Friday night considering all of the circumstances and the length of the race proved that our program is improving all the way around.”
To further propel her confidence towards the 19th race of the season, Dufault and her teammate Jared Marks recently tested at the half-mile oval with stellar results which gives the now Davidson, North Carolina resident some motivation and objectives in her No. 12 Mad Croc / Dodge Motorsports / Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger.
“I was thankful that we tested, it helped me a lot,” she added. “Both of the Tony Marks Racing cars were pretty equal and we’re coming back this weekend – hoping to find even more speed. I like Toledo Speedway; it’s a cool place and probably one of my favorite short tracks.
Unfortunately, even though we were running 11th in the spring, a lapped car put a bunch of us in a bad situation and started a chain-reaction incident and we were caught up in it. So, we weren’t able to put together the finish that we had hoped for. By now, I’m hoping I’ve earned some respect from my peers on the track and they will race me how they want to be raced. Everyone on the team deserves to see our No. 12 near the front of the field and I’m hoping we’re able to accomplish that on Sunday afternoon.”
For the team’s second attempt to conquer Toledo Speedway, the team has brought on Tommy Buzze, the champion car chief from 2010 ARCA Racing Series championship team Sheltra Motorsports to call the shots for Dufault on Sunday afternoon.
“I’ve really heard nothing but good things about Tommy and his credentials are obviously impressive,” Dufault explained. “It’s a good thing for TMR to be expanding to two cars more frequently and definitely having Tommy on the pit box on Sunday will do nothing but help the program all the way around and I’m all for that. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Following Toledo, Dufault plans to regroup with her Mooresville, North Carolina-based team and prepare for 2012 which includes returning to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards for another year of battle.
“I’ve been incredibly grateful for everything that has happened to me this year,” Dufault humbling stated. “The learning process has been extensive but nothing but positive as far as I’m concerned. We’ll spend the off-season getting the cars together and working on hopefully bringing some more marketing partners on-board to kick off the new season. One thing is for sure, we’ll be back and better than ever.”
Car owner Tony Marks offered his insight on Sunday’s anticipated thriller.
“I cannot wait to see both of our Tony Marks Racing entries duking it out for a good finish on Sunday afternoon,” said Marks, a successful entrepreneur from Ohio. “The test went extremely well and Maryeve’ confidence is contagious, so I’m anxious to see the green flag drop and see her end the ARCA season on a positive note.”
In addition to backing from Mad Croc Energy, Dodge Motorsports, the freshman organization welcomes additional support from Hickory’s Best Beef Jerky, Walgreens, Pilkington Glass, Cool Off Icy Towelettes and the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) for Sunday’s festivities.
The Federated Car Care 200 (200 laps / 100 miles) is the 19th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 70th ARCA race at Toledo Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, October 15 with a forty five minute practice session planned from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. A final forty five minute “happy hour” session has been etched in from 1:40 p.m. – 2:25 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. A one hour on-track autograph session has been etched in from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on race day (Sunday). The contest will take the green flag shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16. The event will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,331st race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com <http://www.arcaracing.com/> presented by ARCANation.com <http://www.arcanation.com/> . Climbing the NASCAR Ladder, Maryeve Dufault Reflects on Nationwide Debut
Reno, NV (August 26, 2011) - Maryeve Dufault became the first Canadian women to compete in a NASCAR Nationwide event last weekend when she took the checkered flag driving the #81 Quebec Dodge Dealers Dodge in the Napa Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
Despite mechanical gremlins which challenged Default’s efforts throughout the weekend, the Sorel, Quebec native reflects on the positives from the history-making event, “Wow, it was an incredible experience,” said Dufault. “My goal, no matter what was to finish this race and despite some obstacles, we did that. It was very challenging, but I learned so much. This experience helped me develop my driving immensely both mentally and physically. I learned a lot about the handling and the set-up of the Nationwide car, especially as the fuel loads change, but I also learned a lot about the mental approach to an event like this. There was certainly extra pressure, being in Canada and becoming the first Canadian women to make it to Nationwide, and despite the mechanical challenges, I persevered, it was not an easy task for sure, but I learned something every lap.”
Dufault finished the event 30th out of 43 starters, due to early race contact and a spin, which broke the transmission mount in her #81 Dodge. As a result, the gearbox was compromised, Dufault was unable to use reverse or 1st gear to recover from the SPIN and the damage made shifting extremely difficult throughout the 74 lap event. In addition to transmission issues, Dufault fought brake problems throughout the race, but still finished her Nationwide debut consistently running lap times as quick as the top-20, “I was clipped on lap 14 and I spun. Unfortunately from there it was a tough day as the balance of the car was off due to the transmission damage and I had a very difficult time getting into several gears. On top of that, we had brake issues, and the water and helmet blower were not working! That is the way it goes sometimes, that is racing, but it certainly made for a tough day,” commented Dufault.
Dufault returns to the ARCA Racing Series, where she is about to wrap up her rookie season, which has been highlighted with one top-ten and five top-15 finishes. However, she does not count out future Nationwide races, “For now, I am going to continue to learn and compete in the ARCA Racing Series, but with proper testing beforehand, I certainly hope to compete again in the Nationwide Series soon,” said Dufault. “We worked hard to promote the Montreal race and we were very successful in promoting my sponsor, the Quebec Dodge Dealers. My goal is to continue to progress through the NASCAR ladder and Nationwide is the next step. I was very impressed with the car and the other drivers in the series, Nationwide offers great racing, and I am very grateful for the opportunity.”

Tony Marks Racing Forgoes ARCA Event At Illinois State Fairgrounds
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - August 16, 2011) - Officials from Tony Marks Racing announced today that the team is forgoing its plans to compete in Sunday’s Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in order to allow its driver Maryeve Dufault to concentrate on her NASCAR Nationwide Series debut this weekend in Montreal.
The decision was a hard one for the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team as the freshman organization has recently surged into the ARCA spotlight with speed and solid finishes from primary driver Maryeve Dufault, part-time development driver Jared Marks and reining ARCA champion Patrick Sheltra. However, logistically the decision to skip the 14th race of the season offers a sense of relief for all parties involved.
“Of course, this was not an easy decision,” said car owner Tony Marks. “But, we’re looking at the best interest of the team. While we’re not running for points in the ARCA Racing Series right now, skipping Springfield allows Maryeve to fully concentrate on her efforts for her inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in her home Country.
We’ve spoken with all of our marketing partners and the team in great length about the decision and everyone has stood by it 100 percent. Anything could happen as far as weather, travel delays, etc., so it was just a smart decision for us to do this.”
Currently, the TMR team is strategically working on a plan that will satisfy ARCA Racing Series officials for the team’s No. 12 entry to be used by another competitor in order to keep the team’s current owner points active and in a competitive position.
Marks concluded by saying, “On behalf of the entire TMR team and our marketing partners, we are wishing Maryeve the best this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. She is grabbing a lot of attention for all the right reasons, so we will all be glued to the race and cheering her on in the Napa Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge!”
Dufault will drive for MacDonald Motorsports, a longtime competitor in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and NASCAR Nationwide Series. The team’s current position in the NNS car owner standings will guarantee her a starting berth in the No. 81 Quebec Dodge Dealers Dodge Challenger R/T on Saturday afternoon
TMR is expected to return to the ARCA Racing Series scene in the 15th race of the season for the inaugural running of the Herr’s Live Life With Flavor 200 at Madison International Speedway on Friday, August 26.
The Allen Crowe 100 (100 laps / 100 miles) is the 14th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 29th ARCA event held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds is a one-day show. Practice begins Sunday, August 21 with a one hour practice session planned from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. The field will take the green flag Sunday afternoon shortly after 1:00 p.m. The event will not be televised but race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,326th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. Maryeve Dufault, Tony Marks Racing Return to Pocono Raceway
(LONG POND, Pa. - August 4, 2011) - For the first time in her rookie season in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Maryeve Dufault will return to a track that she has mounted experience in her No. 12 Mad Croc Energy/Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger for Tony Marks Racing.
Two months ago, Dufault, the Sorel, Quebec native made her debut at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway where she impressed by qualifying 15th and improving to a solid 12th place lead-lap finish in the Pocono ARCA 200. Saturday, the ARCA Racing Series returns to the track nicknamed the “Tricky Triangle” for the running of the Pennsylvania ARCA 125.
Returning to the track nestled along the mountains of Long Pond, Pennsylvania, Dufault and her Ryan Chism led team knows though that a curveball has been thrown at them for the 13th race of the 2011 season.
Even though fog shortened her Pocono debut in June by 21 laps, the track time the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series acquired was priceless. Saturday’s race has a shorter distance of just 50 laps or 125 miles which means Dufault and her TMR gang has to be on their toes and be prepared for the unexpected from the drop of the green flag.
“Actually, I’m really excited about returning to Pocono this weekend,” said Dufault who is aiming for her second career top-10 in ARCA competition. “I really adapted well to the track in June and I feel like with that experience, it should help us on Saturday.”
She continued, “We’ve had some ups and downs over the last couple of weeks, but this Tony Marks Racing team is incredible. I’ve never met a group of more dedicated guys than mine. I know a good strong on Saturday is just one way of showing them how that hard work is paying off and especially how much they are appreciated.”
With just 50 laps to get the job done on Saturday afternoon, Dufault knows that while patience is still important, there will no time to lag as the laps will tick away quickly.
“You have to be prepared for anything,” added Dufault, who will make her NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in two weeks at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. “We could find ourselves pitting right where we need to or it could go the other way where we’ll have to pit under green flag conditions. The ARCA competition has been massively tough this year, so we’ll just have to be prepared for any situation that may be thrown at us.”
Car owner Tony Marks offered his thoughts on Saturday’s anticipated thriller
“Pocono is such a neat track,” said the Ohio entrepreneur. “Maryeve impressed a lot of people on how quickly she was able to adapt to a track that difficult in such a short amount of time. We’re bringing her a strong No. 12 Mad Croc Energy / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger, so we’re looking for another solid finish this weekend.”
The Pennsylvania ARCA 125 (50 laps / 125 miles) is the 13th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 53rd ARCA race at Pocono Raceway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, August 5 with a one hour and twenty minute practice session planned from 1:40 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin later in the day at 5:40 p.m. The field will take the green flag shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6. The event will be televised live on SPEED. Live timing and scoring throughout the 1,325th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. Maryeve Dufault; Tony Marks Racing Set For Short Track Return
WINCHESTER, Indiana (June 22, 2011) - - ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by Menards Rookie of the Year contender Maryeve Dufault returns to short track racing this weekend in hopes of repelling of a strong finish gone a-wall from Michigan in Saturday night’s Winchester ARCA 200 presented by Federated Auto Parts
The driver of the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger returns to a half-mile oval looking to take the checkered flag after gallant efforts at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and Toledo Speedway were ruined with DNFs (did not finish)
Armed with a stellar Dodge Charger built by the Mooresville, North Carolina-based Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team, Dufault and her posse look to make some noise in just her third career short track start
“I’m extremely optimistic about this weekend,” said Dufault who enters the ninth race of the season 11th in the championship standings. “The more I’m competing at short tracks, the more my learning curve strengthens. My main objective this weekend is to get comfortable during practice, start as close to the front as we can and complete all 200 laps. If we can do that, we should have a relatively good finish.”
Saturday night’s anticipated brawl officially marks the halfway point to the 2011 ARCA Racing Series season. Dufault and her TMR have experienced their share of ups and downs, but the Sorel, Quebec native feels that her team will begin an uphill swing of finishes marching forward
“We have eight races under our belt,” Dufault explained. “We’ve learned a lot in those races that should help us tremendously moving forward to the rest of the year. I’m incredibly grateful to VR-12 and Dodge for their continued support of our race team. I’m just hoping we can close out the year with some more strong finishes.”
The finishes that the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pilot is referring to dates back to earlier this month at Chicagoland Speedway where Dufault carried her team to their first career top-10 finish with a solid 10th place finish at the 1.5-mile oval. While short track racing offers different situations and odds under racing conditions, Dufault knows that her chances of finishing in the top-10 are still obtainable.
“Finishing in the top-10 is no easy task in the ARCA Racing Series this season,” Dufault sounded. “The competition is strong on a weekly basis which forces the other team to step up to the plate and try harder. I feel we would have a couple more top-10 finishes this year if we didn’t have some bad luck. That’s just part of the game though. We’ll go to Winchester this weekend and prepare to beat the odds.”
Tony Marks, owner of TMR offered his insight on Saturday’s night contest. “Despite the bad luck that we’ve had on the short tracks, Maryeve has been competitive, just been at the wrong place, wrong time. We’ve laid out our goals for the race and we’ll do everything we can to accomplish them.”
The Winchester ARCA 200 presented by Federated Auto Parts (200 laps / 100 miles) is the ninth of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 22nd ARCA race at Winchester is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, June 25 with a one hour and half practice session planned from 1:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin later in the day at 4:45 p.m. The field will take the green flag later that night shortly after 8:00 p.m. The race will not be televised but event coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,321st race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com <http://www.arcaracing.com/> presented by ARCANation.com. <http://www.arcanation.com/> All times are local.
Strong Run For Maryeve Dufault; Tony Marks Racing Spoiled In Michigan
BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 20, 2011) - - ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Rookie of the Year contender Maryeve Dufault put on another good showing Friday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway in Tony Marks Racing’s No. 12 Mad Croc / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger. Unfortunately, the results won’t show just how strong the team’s performance was as Dufault became a victim of circumstances during the RainEater Wiper Blades 200.
Despite the Sorel, Quebec’s limited experience at the two-mile oval, Dufault showed extreme maturity during practice, qualifying and during the eighth race of the 2011 season.
After negotiating the 22nd fastest lap during practice, the Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team led by Darren Wolfe and Ryan Chism along with Dufault made some adjustments to their No. 12 Mad Croc / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger hoping for a solid starting position. In qualifying, Dufault raised the bar by maneuvering the 16th fastest lap putting smiles on the rookie team heading into the race.
Immediately from the start of the race, Dufault maintained a position in the top-20. An early race caution would keep the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series from making an early race charge. On the lap 10 restart, Dufault locked the 16th position.
By lap 20, she had slipped back to 17th but the rookie was biding her time and logging laps in her Michigan International Speedway. Five laps later, she lost a position to Matt Merrell while battling tire wear and some tightness.
The caution flag though would waive by lap 30 with Dufault on the lead lap and solidly in the top-20 where four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment were on deck for the Tony Marks Racing rookie during routine pit stops.
Restarting in the 17th position, Dufault moved into the 16th position on lap 41 with her sights set on entering the top-15. When Hal Martin blew a tire at the same time, the yellow flag waived once again allowing the opportunity for the TMR team to catch up to the rear of the field and prepare to throttle forward.
The lap 47 restart positioned the popular ARCA driver in the 12th position. With determination to move into the top-10 in the second half of the event, the No. 52 of Tom Hessert lost a tire in front of the No. 12 Mad Croc / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger forcing Dufault to take the high line to avoid Hessert’s spinning machine. Hessert though clipped her as he drifted back up the track sending the former road racing talent into the wall on the backstretch.
She was able to leave the scene of the incident under her own power but heavy damage to the No. 12 Mad Croc / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger would ultimately force the TMR team to exit the event after 52 laps. The team was credited with a frustrating 28th place finish.
“It’s frustrating, because we had a really good car,” said Dufault. “I cannot thank Mad Croc, VR-12 and Dodge enough for the opportunity to allow us to race at Michigan. We were going to have a good day. I learned an awful lot. I went to the high side and had no where to go when I got clipped. It’s stinks because I wanted to leave here still in the top-10 in the championship standings, but we’ll look ahead to Winchester next week and see what we can do.”
Tony Marks, team owner commented on the team’s performance in the Irish Hills. “There was nothing no one could do; this unfortunately is part of the game. I cannot tell you how proud I am of Maryeve. She was doing a magnificent job and was going to have a good finish to carry us into Winchester next weekend. We’ll just go there and look to close what we started here.”
Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is a return to Winchester (Ind.) Speedway for the running of the Winchester ARCA 200 presented by Federated Auto Parts. Dufault will make her inaugural debut at the Indiana short track.
Maryeve Dufault; Tony Marks Racing Solid In Pocono Debut
LONG POND, Pennsylvania (June 13, 2011) - - ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year candidate Maryeve Dufault had an impressive showing in her Pocono (Pa.) Raceway debut continuing her Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team’s run of consistent finishes in the Pocono ARCA 200.
Never have seeing the defying 2.5-mile triangle before practice on Friday morning, fellow Dodge teammate and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Kurt Busch offered the Sorel, Quebec native a private tour around the “Tricky Triangle.” Undoubtedly, the advice paid off.
In practice, Dufault in her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger mounted the 17th fastest practice lap. Throughout practice, she showed massive improvement which climbed the freshman team through the running order.
The TMR team led by Darren Wolfe and Ryan Chism elected to make minor changes to her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger hoping to give her a little more speed in Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying. In time trials, Dufault found more speed and negotiated a 15th place qualifying position, a career best in seven races.
The strategy for Dufault and her TMR team was to learn and finish the race.
Through the race’s first 15 circuits, the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger maintained a spot in the top-15. With the leaders on a torrid pace, Dufault would lose a lap under green but would fight off her other challengers for the Aaron’s Lucky Dog. The caution flag waived on lap 17, with Dufault rightfully earning her lap back.
A solid pit stop by the TMR team would return the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series competitor into the top-15. With light rain falling and fog present though, the caution period extended over the next 12 laps, and initially, ARCA officials decided to drop the green flag on lap 32. After restarts to begin laps 32 and 33 were aborted, officials instructed drivers to drive down pit road to close lap 35 where the red flag would be issued as everyone waited for the fog to lift.
A short time later, the cars would be re-fired and moved from pit road. The green flag would fly on lap 38 with Dufault on the move. Making work of her challengers, Dufault would move into the 13th position when the caution flag would waive on lap 50. The team followed the leaders and made the trip to pit road for four tires and fuel. Dufault called for no adjustments as she was very comfortable with her race car.
Restarting the event on lap 57 in the 12th position, Dufault would get yet another lap under her belts before a caution flag waived two laps later for again dense fog around the facility. Red flag conditions would again adorn the field but ultimately the fog would force ARCA officials to consider the race complete on lap 59 with Dufault scored in the 12th position.
“It was a very good day for Tony Marks Racing, VR-12 and Dodge,” said Dufault, who notched her fourth top-15 finish in seven races. “I learned a lot this weekend that will help us when we come back in August. Tony (Marks, owner) did a great job spotting and the team was strong in the pits. I’m happy with a 12th in my first Pocono start. Hopefully we can keep these solid finishes going.”
As for Marks, who played a double-duty role at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, he was exceptionally pleased with the outcome. “It was nice to see the progress of Maryeve from start to finish this weekend,” he said. “Darren, Ryan and the whole TMR team did a great job giving her a competitive car that she was able to maneuver through a very difficult track in some uncharacteristic conditions.”
With her finish on Saturday, Dufault remains 10th in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings after seven races.
Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is round eight of nine on the 2011 schedule. The RainEater Wiper Blades 200 from the two-mile oval of Michigan International Speedway is set for Friday, June 17th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern live on SPEED. Dufault will make her inaugural debut at the track nestled in the “Irish Hills.”
Maryeve Dufault; Tony Marks Racing Take Momentum To Pocono
LONG POND, Pennsylvania (June 9, 2011) - - On the heels of their first career top-10 finish together in only their sixth ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event last Saturday night at Chicagoland Speedway, Rookie of the Year candidate Maryeve Dufault and her Tony Marks Racing (TMR) are hoping to carry the momentum to Pocono (Pa.) Raceway for Saturday’s running of the Pocono ARCA 200 in the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger.
The recent finish also moved the Sorel, Quebec Canada native inside the top-10 in the championship standings and the freshman team is motivated to keep the climb going in the seventh race of the season.
Dufault has never raced at the tricky 2.5-mile triangle but that doesn’t faze the full-time female ARCA competitor as she’s leaning on the experience of her TMR team to guide her through the first of two races there this season.
“Chicagoland was such a great experience and we want to keep it going this weekend at Pocono,” said Dufault, driver of the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger. “I’ve never been to Pocono Raceway but there are several members of my team that have. I’m relying on their experience plus what I take in during practice on Friday to help us produce a good run on Saturday.”
The goal remains the same this weekend at Pocono, finish the race.
“We went into Chicagoland with the same goals and expectations that we have for this weekend at Pocono and we left their with a top-10 run. We know we still have a lot to learn, myself included. Whatever we don’t achieve, we’ll look to capitalize on it when we return to Pocono in August.”
She added, “After practice, I’ll talk with some of my other competitors and see if they can help me with any struggles I may be having. What is so great about the ARCA Racing Series is that the veteran drivers are willing and able to help. It’s definitely been appreciated.”
With the halfway mark of the 2011 season on the horizon, Dufault is quick to praise her team for their efforts thus far and looks forward to building a platform with them as the year soldiers on.
“We’ve experienced some ups and downs, but we expected that,” Dufault sounded. “As a team though we kept each other confident, brought fast cars to the race track each and every week and have made strides along the way. We have excellent sponsors in VR-12 and Dodge. As long as continue to make gains and produce finishes we’re all happy with that it will be a season that we’re all proud of.”
As for car owner Tony Marks, he is optimistic about Saturday’s Pocono ARCA 200 but is confident in the ability of his team and driver. “It’s another new track, so I know we’re going to have a little bit of a learning curve,” said Marks. “Maryeve did a great job last weekend at Chicagoland. We just have to go to Pocono this weekend and do the same thing that we did last weekend and (hopefully) the finishes will be what we’re looking for.”
The Pocono ARCA 200 (80 laps / 200 miles) is the seventh of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 52nd ARCA race at Pocono Raceway is a two-day show. Maryeve Dufault Making Strides At New Jersey Motorsports Park
MILLVILLE, New Jersey (May 21, 2011) - - Tony Marks Racing (TMR) pilot Maryeve Dufault in the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger made huge strides Saturday at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) giving her rookie team confidence heading into tomorrow’s ModSpace 150.
Dufault, the Sorel, Quebec Canada native originally hails from experience that includes road racing so, for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Rookie of the Year contender to be a sleeper in her first tango with the track’s 12-turn, 2.3-mile Thunderbolt Raceway isn’t a surprise.
Despite limited practice Saturday after some mechanical setbacks, the female sensation rose to the attention in Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying where she maneuvered the 21st quickest lap, the fastest of the three female competitors entered for the fifth race of the season.
“It’s a shame that we didn’t get as much practice as we wanted to, but we had to make sure the car was right,” offered Dufault. “As always, the Tony Marks Racing team delivered and fixed the car and we were able to make some laps at the end of the final practice heading into qualifying. The car felt good in qualifying and I think we have a lot more left, we just needed some more laps.”
If laps is what Maryeve Dufault wants than laps is what she shall receive as the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pilot will look to complete all 67 laps or 150 miles in the lone road racing event of the season as opportunity to boost the entire team’s confidence but also propel the freshman driver in the championship standings.
“I have a good feeling about tomorrow,” added Dufault. “The No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger is fast. New Jersey is a very diverse track; it has some fast parts, some extremely slow parts and even some elevation which makes it very technical. I have some notes from today that I’m going to study and hope it will pay off with a good result tomorrow.”
Tony Marks, owner of TMR’s No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger offered his thoughts on today’s action NJMP. “I heard a lot of people really enjoy coming to New Jersey Motorsports Park and I see now why. Maryeve and the TMR did a good job overcoming the setback we had in practice to deliver a solid qualifying run. We know we can go to the front tomorrow, we just have to use some patience and a little luck to make it happen.”
The ModSpace 150 (67 laps / 150 miles) is the fifth of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The fourth ever ARCA event held at New Jersey Motorsports Park is a two-day show. The field will take the green flag on Sunday May 22 shortly after 1:00 p.m. The race will not be televised but event coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the weekend will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com.
Familiar Territory For Maryeve Dufault This Weekend At New Jersey
MILLVILLE, New Jersey (May 18, 2011) - - After tacking two demanding short tracks in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and Toledo Speedway respectively, Maryeve Dufault is anxiously awaiting for the green flag to drop in Sunday’s ModSpace 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
On top of the two short tracks and two superspeedways of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Dufault will return to her racing roots this weekend as the ARCA Racing Series invades their lone road course event of the season.
Dufault, a native of Sorel, Quebec Canada hails from a resume full of road racing which ultimately puts her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger as a pre-race favorite for the fifth race of the 2011 season.
“I’m very excited about this weekend,” said Dufault, the 2011 ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year contender. “I enjoy road racing because of its unique characteristics and challenges they present. The Tony Marks Racing (TMR) has prepared me a great Dodge Charger and I think this is one of our best opportunities to get a strong finish.”
With her monstrous success in open-wheels turning left and rights, Dufault is still keeping reality in the back of her mind, noting the difference between the two types of race cars.
“Yes, I have done a lot of road course racing but I am staying very humble for this weekend,” she mentioned. “It’s not the same type of car and there is a huge difference between open wheel and stock cars. I’m hoping though that the transition will be smooth and we can strut our stuff right from the get go.”
After two discouraging finishes which saw the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger competitive but become a victim of short track racing circumstances, Dufault knows that a good run on Sunday would not only propel her team’s confidence but her climb towards entering the top-10 in the championship standings.
“This is such a great team,” Dufault said. “I don’t think you will find a more determined team in the garage other than Tony Marks Racing. The guys work hard to build me fast Dodge Chargers. We were so competitive at Toledo but didn’t get the finish we wanted or deserved. This weekend, I want to make it up to them and all our sponsors with a gratifying run.”
Should Mother Nature’s forecast attempt to throw a curve-ball at the series for a third consecutive race, Dufault knows that she has to be prepared for the unexpected, which could include racing in the rain.
“It’s part of the game,” Dufault sounded. “If we do have to race in the rain, patience is the key. You have to hit your marks every single time and be extremely careful not to make a mistake. I think it will definitely make the race more intense but I feel that we’ll be ready for whatever conditions we’ll have to deal with.”
Car owner Tony Marks offered his thoughts on this weekend’s ModSpace 150. “This is Maryeve’s forte. We’re all expecting a great weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park. I know that she is very excited about not only racing at a road course but also having the opportunity to put our season back on track. We have just as good of a shot as anyone for victory on Sunday afternoon!”
The ModSpace 150 (67 laps / 150 miles) is the fifth of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The fourth ever ARCA event held at New Jersey Motorsports Park is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, May 21 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. A final “happy hour” session has been etched in from 1:45 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. The field will take the green flag on Sunday May 22 shortly after 1:00 p.m. The race will not be televised but event coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the weekend will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.compresented by ARCANation.com.
Impressive Run For Maryeve Dufault Derailed At Toledo Speedway
TOLEDO, Ohio (May 17, 2011) - - Despite her lack of experience on a short track in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Maryeve Dufault flexed her muscle in the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger during Sunday’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway.
The 2011 ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year candidate had full intentions of utilizing the experience she gained during a private test at the half-mile oval several days prior. With crew chief Darren Wolfe calling the shots and resultant confidence from spotter Gary Johnson, father of five time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson – Dufault was in good hands.
Mother Nature played havoc with the track conditions early Saturday forcing adjustments in the day’s schedule which now included two practices and the cancellation of qualifying. By the conclusion of the first practice, Dufault had locked her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger in the 15th position right behind teammate Jared Marks.
A few adjustments later and Dufault was ready for final practice. Continuing to learn the tricks and trades of the fast short track, the former open-wheel driver maneuvered the 16th fastest time, very respectable for her first tango with the Northern Ohio race track.
Because of the removal of time trials from the day’s activities, Dufault would start the 200-lap event 29th on the field according to the 2011 ARCA Racing Series rule book.
For the second consecutive weekend, rain would drench the race track on race day forcing ARCA Racing Series officials to spend a majority of the morning drying the Northern Ohio race track. The command to start engines was given shortly before 2:00 p.m. with the drivers circling the track under yellow and green flag conditions together to officially begin the fourth race of the season.
The all-clear would be given by lap 20 putting the field under true racing conditions. Knowing that the race had the opportunity to be called at the half-way point, the Sorel, Quebec native quickly began negotiating her way through the pack.
By the time the second yellow flag waived, Dufault had successfully raced her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger into the top-half dozen competition with a very neutral race car.
Johnson remained a cheerleader on the restart to help to Dufault mull over her competition. “You’re doing a real good job Mary,” said Johnson. “Don’t worry once the tires wear down you’ll go right around ‘em – just be patient.”
When the leaders stacked up on the backstretch on lap 37, Dufault showed incredible car control as she was able to glide her Dodge Charger through the carnage finding herself beating on the door of the top-10.
Racing resumed with Dufault making her attack but as the group of cars she was racing with entered turn three on lap 58, a slower machine on the bottom of the track forced the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger to check-up; setting off a chain-reaction result from behind but not before another competitor plowed into the back of the No. 12 TMR entry which ultimately sent her machine hard into the wall.
Coming to rest at the bottom of turn three, Dufault was able to climb from her machine under her own power, agitated but okay. The encouraging performance though would be overshadowed by the 23rd place finish as Dufault; herself experienced what it was like to become a victim of tight short track racing.
“I was really happy with our No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger,” said an obviously disappointed Dufault. “The car was running great and I seemed to really be getting around the track well. I was moving up thru the field to a comfortable position to just ride. The No. 28 closed the door on me while I was outside passing him he was slower. But, he went to the wall like it was clear and that almost squished into the wall where the gate entrance was. I backed off a little but the No. 17 had to go left and hit my rear corner really hard that sent me into the wall. Obviously this is not how we wanted to finish, especially as strong of a car that the Tony Marks Racing team gave me.”
She added, “going around slower traffic is really hard for me I don't want to cause them to wreck but they caused me a wreck and it's the second time that has happened. We needed a good day for the points and for everyone who supports me and Tony Marks Racing but they say this is racing. It’s just frustrating. No one likes taking home a wrecked race car and we didn’t need to do it two weeks in-a-row. The positive coming out of Toledo is that we were fast and showed that we can be contenders. We’ll get No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger repaired and tackle the again on the next short track.”
TMR owner Tony Marks commented on Dufault’s performance.
“Maryeve did a great job, it wasn’t her fault,” he said. “While we’re disappointed that we didn’t get the finish that we all wanted, it was great to see both TMR right in the thick of the battle. We are a driver development team, we are here to teach and learn, and this is all part of it. Maryeve is a very smart, talented driver and I am very happy to have her behind the wheel of my race cars. We just have to pick up the pieces and keep moving forward with our head held high; because that’s the way we’ll persevere when we have races like this. Toledo is over and it’s onto New Jersey.”
Teammate Jared Marks, the 16-year old sophomore at Napoleon High School finished a respectable 13th in his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut behind the wheel of the No. 8 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / UNOH Dodge Charger.
Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is the lone stop at a road course. The ModSpace 150 is set for next Sunday, May 22 at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) in Millville, New Jersey. Dufault has high expectations for round five of the season as her previous racing background includes road course racing.
Maryeve Dufault Sets Sights on Second Short Track
Race of Her Career: Toledo Speedway
MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (May 13, 2011) — 2011 ARCA Series Racing presented by Menards Rookie of the Year candidate, Maryeve Dufault and her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger are gearing up for the fourth event on this years racing schedule, the Menards 200 at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway. Two weeks ago, the Sorrel Quebec, Canada native made her first ever short track career debut at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and claimed a respectable 13th place finish for the Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team. Salem, with its unforgiving high banks is much different than the half-mile semi-banked track of Toledo, so testing the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger this past Monday proved to be a successful venture for Dufault.
“Toledo is smooth compared to Salem”, said Dufault. “We got a few good sessions in on Monday, and I think it’s going to be really good. I am really, really happy with the team. They have worked really hard to get the car ready for Toledo and I think it’s going to be really good. I still have some learning of short tracks since this is only my second short track race in my life, but I feel good about the track.”
Dufault is having a great 2011 rookie season, but she is very keen on knowing that the series schedule brings some challenges with each event and with that also comes the challenge of competing against seasoned drivers in the series as well.
“With every track there are new challenges and short track racing definitely has those”, added Dufault. “I am racing with people who have been racing on short tracks for a lot of their career, whereas this is only my second time. There is still a lot to learn. I just have to take my time, be smart and really take in what every lap has to offer.”
Team owner and Ohio native, Tony Marks, his hopes are optimistic for this weekend as well, especially after the test session last Monday was assisted by Jarit Johnson.
“Maryeve is a very focused and talented driver”, said Marks. “I am very happy with her performance and all the dedication she has with this team. They guys in the shop have worked really hard for a performing car this weekend, and all we can do is go out there and do our best. This is a really big weekend for me personally, TMR, and VR-12. We have our sponsors here, it’s a home track and my son Jared (Marks) is competing Sunday as well, so we are all are looking forward to having a really good weekend.”
The Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care (200 laps / 100 miles) is the fourth of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 69th ARCA race at Toledo Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, May 14th with an hour and a half practice session planned from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. An hour and 15 minute on-track autograph session has been etched in from 12:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. on race day (Sunday). The contest will take the green flag shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. The race will not be televised nationally but event coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the weekend will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. For the second consecutive race at Toledo Speedway, the anticipated thriller will be available locally on television through the Buckeye CableSystem Sports Network (BCSN) Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. All times are local.

Maryeve Dufault Optimistic About ARCA Short Track Debut
SALEM, Indiana (April 28, 2011) - - ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Rookie of the Year candidate Maryeve Dufault and her Tony Marks Racing (TMR) head to Salem (Ind.) Speedway this weekend hoping to build on the momentum of a solid 12th place finish at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway two weeks ago.
Dufault’s performance at the 2.66-mile superspeedway was impressive enough to catch the eyes of many. The Sorel, Quebec Canada native now soars into one of the toughest short tracks on the circuit hoping to keep her season on the straight and narrow in the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory Water Dodge Charger.
The Tony Marks Racing driver has never been to the intimidating half-mile oval but the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series star will rely on the expertise of her crew chief and long-time Motorsports advocate Darren Wolfe.
“I’m optimistic about this weekend for sure,” said the pilot of the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory Water Dodge Charger. “It’s without hesitation that going from such a huge track like Talladega to a bull ring like Salem can present it challenges. Thankfully, I have an incredibly strong team in Tony Marks Racing that I can rely on.”
A short hour and a half practice session is on tap for Saturday afternoon and with zero laps around Salem’s high banks, Dufault looks to keep her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory Water Dodge Charger on the asphalt as much as possible. “Practice will be about learning and getting comfortable,” she added. “I plan to be very open to talking to some of the drivers for advice. I’ve been told that Salem can come up and bite you when you least expect it, so paying attention will be critical towards success this weekend. We had a super run for VR-12, Dodge and Tony Marks Racing at Talladega and I just want to keep going in the right direction.”
Knocking on the door to enter the top-10 in the championship standings, Dufault hopes that she can complete all 200 laps that will not only help her prepare for more short track racing this season but also for a return trip to the Southern Indiana track this fall.
“Salem is one of tracks that we’re going to twice this year, so gathering seat time and logging laps is important,” sounded Dufault. “The competition in ARCA this year has been very competitive and it appears that Salem will be no different. We just have to go out there and do our best to stay focused and accomplish our goals for VR-12, Dodge and all of our TMR supporters.”
Tony Marks, owner of Tony Marks Racing and a former race car driver himself is being realistic about Sunday’s Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200.
“I don’t think there will be anything we cannot overcome this weekend at Salem,” said Marks, one of the newest multi-car owners in ARS competition. “Short track racing of course provides some bumps and bruises but I know that with Maryeve’s determination and eagerness to learn and the team’s faith in her we should have a good solid result on Sunday afternoon.”
Dufault, a former open-wheel ace will make just her third ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start on Sunday and first at Salem (Ind.) Speedway. She will be one of two females entered for this weekend’s activities.
The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 (200 laps / 111 miles) is the third of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 86th ARCA race held at Salem Speedway is a two day show. Practice begins Saturday, April 30 with an hour and half practice session planned from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. An on-track autograph session has been etched in before the contest on Sunday, May 1st set to launch at 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 2:15 p.m. The race will not be televised but race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
Maryeve Dufault Overcomes Obstacles to Receive a “Golden” Finish at Talladega Superspeedway
TALLADEGA, Alabama (April 18, 2011) It’s known that when the age you are turning and the day you were born are the same, that it’s your “golden birthday.”
Same can be said for racing when your car number matches the place you finish, then it’s known as your “golden finish,” and so it was for Maryeve Dufault and the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory h2o Dodge Charger, this past Saturday morning for the postponed 3 Amigos 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
Although what started out to be a great weekend for Tony Marks Racing’s No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory h2o Dodge Charger race team by qualifying third on the starting grid, turned out to be quite challenging. After failing post-qualifying inspections due to a part malfunction, Dufault and the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory h2o Dodge Charger were moved to the end of the field to start in the 39th position. Immense storms and tornadoes swept thru the central Alabama area on Friday afternoon, causing the race event to be pushed back to Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
Even though all the challenges of mother nature and machine seemed to be coming against the Tony Marks Racing team, Dufault and the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory h2o Dodge Charger took the checkered flag with a 12th place finish.
Immediately beginning the 94 lap event, Dufault powered her way up thru the field gaining 14 positions right out of the shoot. She held onto that spot for the first few laps until the first caution flag of the day flew at lap 15. After pitting for fuel and two right side tires, Dufault went a bit above the yellow line coming out of pit road, so ARCA officials waived her to the end of the lead lap putting her back in the 24th position, but that was no challenge for her.
Dufault and the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory h2o Dodge Charger found some friends on the track and gained ground in the draft to push their way up to ninth position. With a couple more cautions coming out and so much movement on the track, Dufault ended up scoring her career best finish in only her second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start.
“After all the emotions that we went thru this weekend, I think we had a really good finish for the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory h2o Dodge Charger team,” said Dufault. “I learned a lot out there today; it’s very different from Daytona. There were some people out there that try to mess your driving up so you just really had to be careful.”
For car owner Tony Marks, he was ecstatic with his driver’s performance and ability to maneuver in such a tight and intense race. “Maryeve despite her setbacks overcame the odds and did a great job for TMR and all of our sponsors,” he said. “We were in the lead draft and just missed a top-10 finish. I’m super proud of her “never give up attitude” and ability to master the draft so brilliantly in only her second career start.
Next up for TMR and Dufault will be their first tango with Salem (Ind.) Speedway for the running of the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200. The Sorel, Quebec Canada native will make her ARCA short track debut in the third race of the 2011 season. The field will take the green flag on Sunday, May 1 shortly after 2:00 p.m.
Maryeve Dufault; Tony Marks Racing Qualify Career-Best Third At Talladega
“Rookie Team; Driver Continue To Show Strength At Superspeedway”
TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 14, 2011) - - Maryeve Dufault qualified a career-best third in only her second ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards attempt at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway Thursday afternoon lining up her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports / Victory Water Dodge Charger on the inside of row number two for tomorrow’s 3 Amigos 250.
Dufault, the Sorel, Quebec native has been very impressive in her Talladega debut. Her rookie Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team showed early signs of strength in pre-race testing last month before rocketing herself to third on the practice charts earlier today.
For a while, Dufault’s lap of 52.204 seconds at 183.434 miles per hour set the rookie on the outside of row number one before youngest Kyle Fowler knocked the Redondo Beach, California native down to third overall.
In her first career ARCA Racing Series start at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February, Dufault qualified 24th.
“Wow, this is great,” Dufault said with a huge smile. “I cannot thank VR-12, Dodge, Victory Water, Tony Marks and Tony Marks Racing for this great opportunity and with a really fast race car. I know we were going for the pole, but I’ll take third and we’ll look forward to tomorrow’s race.”
With her superb qualifying effort, Dufault picked up five crucial championship points towards the coveted ARCA Racing Series championship title which resumes tomorrow after nearly a two month sabbatical.
“Points are good,” she added. “Our goal for tomorrow is to stay up front and not make any mistakes. I’ll have Mike (Calinoff) up spotting for me tomorrow and with his experience, I know I’ll have a shot to be in contention for a good finish if not a win for our sponsors and everyone at Tony Marks Racing.”
Tony Marks, a successful entrepreneur from Ohio has been very pleased with the development and progression of his young race team and was rightfully thrilled with today’s results. “Maryeve and the entire TMR team did a fabulous job,” he said. “We came here and showed the field that we have a great race car and I feel that Maryeve can take VR-12, Dodge, Victory Water and all who support us to victory lane. It’s been a great day so far, hopefully it will keep going into tomorrow!”
A short happy hour final practice session has been etched in for competitors tomorrow but the TMR has not fully decided if they will participate in the run.
The 3 Amigos 250 (94 laps / 250 miles) is the second of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 49th ever ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway is a two-day show. “No. 12 VR 12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger Quickest Charger At Talladega”
TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 14, 2011) - - Maryeve Dufault driver of the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger posted an impressive third fastest time overall during the ARCA Racing Series three hour practice session leading up to tomorrow’s 3 Amigos 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
Dufault, the ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year candidate for Tony Marks Racing (TMR) led the session early at the 2.66-mile superspeedway before eventually falling to the third fastest time overall. “I’m real excited,” said Dufault, who will make her second career ARCA Racing Series start Friday afternoon. “The entire Tony Marks Racing team have given me a great VR 12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger for Talladega. I’m anxious for qualifying later today and hopefully we can have a good race tomorrow and learn a lot.”
She added, “even though this is my first trip to Talladega, I really enjoy the track. VR-12, Dodge and all of our other sponsors deserve some time to be in the spotlight, so hopefully our strong start will continue.”
With qualifying set for later today, Dufault remained optimistic about a pole-contending run but felt their VR 12 / Dodge Motorsports hot rod would be starting near the front. “I’d like to hope that we have a shot at the pole, but I would be happy if we end up somewhere in the top-five. We just have to remain focused the rest of the day and hope for the best.

Maryeve Dufault Confident; Prepared Heading To Talladega
“ARCA Rookie More Than Ready For ‘Dega Debut”
TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 12, 2011) - - After what some called a jaw-dropping performance in the open-test at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway late last month, Maryeve (pronounced Mary-EV) Dufault (pronounced DU-FAU) and her Tony Marks Racing (TMR) crew return to the 2.66-mile superspeedway looking to prove that their effort wasn’t a fluke and their rookie team is more than ready to contend in Friday’s 3 Amigos 250.
Led by crew chief Larry Moore and car chief Darren Wolfe, the duo have put together a strong No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger that should put Dufault, the Sorel, Quebec Canada native as a serious sleeper in the second of 19 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards events this season.
“I’m anxiously awaiting Talladega this week,” said Dufault. “We had a great test with Tony Marks Racing, VR-12 and Dodge. The car was strong right off the trailer. I know that a lot of teams weren’t there and I’m sure that others weren’t showing all of their cards, but we weren’t either. I want to go to Talladega and do the same thing I did at Daytona just minus the outcome.”
When Dufault refers to Daytona in February, the resident of Redondo Beach, California rewinds back to when she found herself in-line for a solid finish before being collected in the “big one” just 16 laps from the finish. Dufault did an excellent job maneuvering through the incident but at the last second, another competitor clipped her No. 12 Dodge Charger which ultimately sent her to the garage for the remainder of the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 which resulted in a 28th place finish.
“I felt like as a team, we preformed very well at Daytona, despite the finish,” she added. “I was just learning and preparing myself to make the move when I needed to then the big accident broke out in front of me. I thought we escaped but I was turned at the last second and it did some damage to our tailpipes. Nonetheless, I still learned a lot about the cars and the draft; which will again be important this weekend at Talladega.”
The former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 competitor was initially overwhelmed with the size and presence of Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, but she is looking forward to completing all 94 laps on Friday afternoon.
“Talladega has some similarities to Daytona and I think we’ll see an exciting race,” Dufault sounded. “I’ve talked to a couple of the other drivers and they’ve been very helpful in telling me what to expect, what to watch out for and what not to do. That’s important for me being a rookie. Once the race starts on Friday, I have to keep our No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger out of trouble but inside the lead draft and take the checkered flag. We need a boost in the point standings, so a good run will pay a two-for-one special.
Tony Marks, owner of Tony Marks Racing, the newest multi-car operation in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is equally energerized about Friday’s contest.
“Quickly, Tony Marks Racing is showing that while we still may be young, we know how to go fast. The team has done an incredible job putting this superspeedway program back in tip-top shape following our misfortunate at Daytona. Maryeve is incredibly focused and determined to do a good job not only for the team, but for our sponsors too. As an owner, that’s all I can ask for. I’m looking forward to seeing what Friday afternoon delivers.”
The 3 Amigos 250 (94 laps / 250 miles) is the second of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 49th ever ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Thursday, April 14 with a three hour practice session planned from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 5:05 p.m. Coverage of time trials is available online through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com in collaboration with Alabama’s local WTDR Thunder 92.7 FM. A 45-minute final practice has been etched in on Friday, April 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 10:55 a.m. The event will take the green flag that afternoon shortly after 4:00 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional live broadcasting available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com in collaboration with Alabama’s local WTDR Thunder 92.7 FM. Maryeve Dufault Emerging From Break Recharged
“Upcoming Driver Ready For First Talladega Tango”
MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (March 25, 2011) - - Maryeve (pronounced Mary-EV) Dufault (pronounced DU-FAU), the 2011 ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by Menards Rookie of the Year candidate is emerging from nearly a six week break ready to test next week at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in preparation for round two of the season.
Dufault, driver of the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger will tackle the smooth 2.66-mile superspeedway for the first time on Tuesday and Wednesday but the Sorel, Quebec Canada native is looking for the same consistency she showed during pre-season testing at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
“I’m looking forward to getting back in the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger,” said Dufault, a resident of Redondo Beach, California. “The break was a nice refresher after Daytona but I’m anxious to get back behind the wheel and continue our season for Tony Marks Racing.”
Dufault who entered ARCA after stint in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 and a successful and impressive career in Formula cars is looking to finish what she started at Daytona in the Talladega ARCA 250 on April 15th.
After qualifying 24th, Dufault kept her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger in the lead draft and was on-track for a satisfying finish before becoming an innocent victim the “big one” just 16 laps from the finish.
“I learned a lot at Daytona,” she said. “I learned a lot about the car, the draft, my competitors and even the track. We had a good car and we almost escaped the “big one” unharmed but to no avail. The Tony Marks Racing team has been thrashing hard on our superspeedway car since the race and we’re looking forward to turning some respectable times during the two-day test.”
Never having the opportunity to experience the enormous Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway Dufault enters Alabama optimistic while hoping to lean on some of her veteran competitors for some tips.
“Most of the tracks on the schedule are going to be green to me,” Dufault explained. “Thankfully, I have a great team behind me who are giving me fast race cars. I’m also reaching out to some of my competitors for advice. I’ve been very appreciative so far of their willingness to guide me and give some tips. Hopefully, Talladega will bring more of the same.”
The first full season of ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards competition for Tony Marks Racing (TMR) continues next Tuesday and Wednesday where the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will host an open-test at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in preparation for the ARCA Racing Series 250 on Friday, April 15.

Maryeve Dufault And Tony Marks Racing ARCA Racing Series Debut
At Daytona Includes a List of Many “Firsts”
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (February 15, 2011) – Maryeve Dufault and Tony Marks Racing (TMR) made their first ever ARCA series debut this weekend in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at the “World Center of Racing” in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The weekend started out solid for Dufault and her TMR No. 12 VR-12 Dodge team, by qualifying a respectable 24th position on the grid for the Saturday season opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway ahead of nine-time series champion, Frank Kimmel.
“There were a lot of pressures coming into this race, not having points, and my first ARCA stock car event, but TMR put together a great car, and we made it into the race”, said Dufault. “I’m just very happy to be a part of this organization and the opportunity to race at Daytona.”
Saturday, before the 200 mile event, TMR unveiled a season long sponsorship commitment from VR-12 Cooling Systems. The two combined, along with driver Dufault, made quite a stir amongst fans, the media, and in the ARCA garage at Daytona this past weekend and they assuredly will carry that momentum with them all season long.
During the main event for Saturday, Dufault piloted the No. 12 VR-12 Dodge Charger in the first laps up thru the field moving into the 17th slot. The second caution of the 80 lap event came out and Dufault came in for first pit stop of the race and got hung up on pit road trying to avoid another teams’ mishap. This cost the TMR No. 12 VR-12 Dodge team a few spots on the grid, but Dufault stayed focused in the draft and made every move with precision.
About half way thru, veteran NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) spotter, Mike Calinoff came across the radio to compliment Dufault.
“I just want to say you are doing a great job”, said an encouraged Calinoff. “You’re doing what you need to do by just there staying in line. We’re just going to stay smart, get some laps and finish the race.”
Dufault was able to turn a few more laps at full speed before an on track mêlée caught up to her just 16 laps from the finish. Another driver overreacted to the on track action and drove his machine down into the right side of the No. 12 VR-12 Dodge Charger.
Upon exiting the litter of race cars in turns three and four, Dufault brought her Tony Marks-owned entry to pit road where damage from the exhaust and the front-end alignment forced the No. 12 to the garage and ultimately done for the afternoon.
After climbing out of the car, a very disappointed Dufault had some comments about her first encounter with “the big one”.
“I thought I had missed it all until I got hit”, said a disappointed Dufault. “Then I was looking and there were cars going everywhere. I tried to get to the grass but it all happened so fast. It stinks.”
After reflecting on the day’s events and her first ARCA series Daytona superspeedway debut, Dufault had some very positive remarks to describe her experience.
“Today was a great start for the TMR VR-12 Dodge Charger team. They did a really great job putting the car together. I was having a blast out there; so much fun”, said Dufault. “I couldn’t be more thankful for having done all those laps out there. It was unfortunate about the accident but I tried to do my best. I got a lot of experience and we’ll just carry it on to Talladega”, said a positive Dufault.
She continued to reflect about her on track involvement at Daytona.
“It was fast out there with all those cars and with the movement of the car”, explained Dufault. “I thought it was really exciting to draft and of course the pit road situation was a first for me, a lot of smoke, a lot of numbers, it was a little overwhelming, but we got it right the second time.”
A very humble Dufault graded her performance on a scale from one to 10 as a “seven.”
“A seven maybe”, she said laughing. “I don’t know, a 10 maybe, but I have so much to learn I can’t give myself a 10, that would be too proud of myself.”
The TMR No. 12 VR-12 Dodge Charger finished 28th out of a 43 car field Saturday at the drop of the checkered flag for the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway.
During the down time between season superspeedway openers, Dufault and the TMR team will be moving their headquarters from Napoleon, Ohio to Race City USA, Mooresville, North Carolina.
The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will take nearly an eight week pause before action resumes at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Friday, April 15th, 2011 live on SPEED.

Maryeve Dufault; Tony Marks Rev Up With VR-12 For 2011 ARCA Season
“New Sponsor To Racing Aligns With ARCA’s Newest Star!”
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (February 12, 2011) - - Officials from Tony Marks Racing (TMR) and Freezetone® Products, the manufacturer of VR-12 announced this morning from Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway that VR-12 has aligned itself with the newest team in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driven by Maryeve (pronounced Mary-EV) Dufault (pronounced DU-FAU) for the full 2011 season as the title sponsor of the team’s No. 12 entry beginning with this afternoon’s Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200.
VR-12 is manufactured by Freezetone® Products, USA, leader in International car maintenance products and environmentally safe solutions. Luis M. Latour, President, has 30 years of experience in manufacturing ecological products for the automotive industry. With his team of experts, he was able to develop a solution that saves consumers money while at the same time lessening the environmental damage caused by most automotive chemical solutions.
VR-12 is a revolutionary green product that is used to guard against coolant problems. This new invention is the ultimate cooling system protection. It is like a vitamin for cooling systems <http://www.vr-12.com/#/Vitamin_for_your_radiator/VR-12%20Home> , composed of organic components and mixed through a synergetic process. VR-12 offers an alternative to topping off radiators and cooling systems versus conventional methods. A special formula containing Organic Acid Technology (OAT) will keep vehicles running at pick performance for longer periods of time while eliminating flushing and waste. It should be used as part of monthly radiator and cooling system maintenance. VR-12 is a green product that protects radiators and cooling components from rust and corrosion, preventing expensive coolant replacement.
“We’re very excited about today’s announcement with VR-12,” said Tony Marks, owner of TMR. “This partnership with VR-12 fits the platform that we believe in at TMR and it is a product that I personally endorse. It is our goal to make others in racing and those consumers on the road know the importance of what VR-12 can do and I believe we’ll start showing that this afternoon! To have Maryeve (Dufault) represent VR-12 is a win-win situation. She fits their marketing model perfectly and I know that she can and will get the job done behind the wheel of the VR-12 Dodge Charger.”
For Dufault, a native of Sorel, Quebec Canada the opportunity to work with a growing company like VR-12 fits right into her spectrum. “What an honor it will be to drive the No. 12 VR-12 Dodge Charger this season,” explained Dufault, who will roll from the 24th position later today in her ARCA Racing Series debut. “Mr. Latour believes in our race team and we believe that we can help him accelerate the growth and distribution of his product through Tony Marks Racing. It’s a real honor to be the one to boast their product week in and week out!”
Vehicle maintenance is important, especially as consumers are postponing buying new cars in a recovering economy. VR-12 is appealing as a maintenance solution for radiators and car coolant systems because it can be used with all makes and models and mix with any antifreeze/coolant type, color or brand. Any vehicle owner, motorcycle, heavy truck, light duty truck, RV’ or boat, experiencing poor vehicle performance due to a week and neglected coolant can use VR-12. Also, other coolants are compatible with VR-12 so consumers can use this product when changing engine coolant in conjunction with what they are already using.
“VR-12 is proud to be affiliated with Tony Marks Racing and Maryeve Dufault for the 2011 ARCA Racing Series season,” says Luis M. Latour, President of Freezetone®. “VR-12 is designed to take care of your vehicle and save money while saving the environment. It helps conserve resources because it can re-energize your antifreeze and boosts your cooling system. We feel that no one can better help us spread that message than the TMR team. We’re extremely proud of the accomplishments that the team has achieved here at Daytona and we’re looking forward not only to today’s race but for the rest of the season.”
The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 48th ARCA race held at Daytona is a three-day show. The event will take the green flag later today shortly after 4:30 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com <http://www.arcaracing.com/> . Maryeve Dufault To Make ARCA Racing Series Debut On Saturday At Daytona
“Upcoming Driver Qualifies Solid 24th At The World Center Of Racing!”
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (February 11, 2011) - - Maryeve (pronounced Mary-EV) Dufault (pronounced DU-FAU), the Sorel, Quebec Canada native will make her ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut Saturday afternoon after she qualified a solid 24th on Friday afternoon at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
Dufault, driver of the No. 12 Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger maneuvered her automobile around the newly re-paved 2.5-mile superspeedway in a time of 49.726 seconds at 180.992 miles per hour.
The ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year candidate out-qualified some of ARCA’s finest including nine time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel, Cunningham Motorsports’ Joey Licata Jr., NASCAR star Chad McCumbee and Grant Enfinger who is driving for 2008 ARCA Racing Series championship team Allgaier Motorsports.
Saturday’s Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 will also mark the inaugural ARCA debut of Tony Marks Racing (TMR), one of the newest multi-car teams within the ARCA Racing Series.
“I am very happy to be in the show and race tomorrow,” said Dufault, a resident of Redondo Beach, California. “After practice yesterday, I was thinking about all of what could go wrong or whether or not we would have the speed to make it in. It's an amazing accomplishment being a new team, having no points and overcoming those pressures and fears to get in the race. I am just so happy to be a part of the Tony Marks Racing (TMR) program. Thankfully, we found the speed we were looking for from practice yesterday. The TMR team did an amazing job with our Dodge and I’m very proud of each and everyone one of them!”
She added, “I also have to thank all of our sponsors including Dodge and Victory Water H20. It's just very special to be in this race tomorrow. Our goal is to finish the race as high as we can and give our team some momentum heading into the next race at Talladega in April.”
Now that she is solidly in the show, Dufault and her Larry Moore-led crew will turn their attention to tomorrow morning’s “Happy Hour” drafting session, which will allow the avid open-wheeler to get a jump-start on drafting in preparation for her inaugural superspeedway debut.
Immediately after “Happy Hour” but before Dufault straps in her No. 12 Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger Saturday afternoon for the first of 19 events of the year, she will be joined by car owner Tony Marks and a special guest in the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Press Conference room on Saturday morning at 10:45 a.m. for an announcement concerning full primary sponsorship of her No. 12 Dodge for the remainder of the 2011 ARCA Racing Series season.
To coincide with their announcement and to help develop a new fan-base and center some attentiveness on their new marketing partner, Tony Marks Racing will carry an on-board camera for Saturday’s anticipated thriller.
The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. Maryeve Dufault Looking To Earn Respect, Trust And Creditability In Daytona Debut
“Upcoming Driver Has Shot At Becoming ARCA’s First Female Winner”
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (February 9, 2011) - - It was evident when the three-day open test for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards concluded at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway last month that the series’ newest team and driver were bound and determined to be contenders.
Tony Marks Racing (TMR) and Rookie of the Year candidate Maryeve (pronounced Mary-EV) Dufault (pronounced DU-FAU) will look to keep their momentum train rolling and put their No. 12 Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger on the map when the ARCA Racing Series kicks off their season on Saturday afternoon with the running of the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200.
Armed with the ageless Larry Moore as their crew chief, Dufault and the TMR team head to the newly re-paved superspeedway looking to kick off their inaugural season on the right foot but also gain the Canadian some attention and experience at one of the series’ most prestigious race tracks.
“This is an incredible opportunity and I surely want to make the best of it,” said Dufault, who joins the ARCA Racing Series tour after a stint in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 and a successful and impressive career in Formula cars. “We had a very productive test and I’m extremely optimistic about the race.”
Even though Dufault, a native of Sorel, Quebec, and TMR realize that they have a fast Dodge nameplate with horsepower from Illmor Engineering, the yellow stripe indicating rookie status on the back bumper of Dufault’s Charger could be her biggest downfall. Still, the team is hoping to show in practice on Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning that even though she may be a rookie, she has a feel and a sense for what is going on around her.
“Daytona will be my first restrictor plate race,” offered Dufault, who currently resides in Redondo Beach, California. “That’s pretty intense for any rookie, but I have a strong team centered on giving me the best they can and in return I’m going to give them 150 percent behind the wheel.”
For car owner and Ohio entrepreneur Tony Marks, the realization of having his own team competing on the high banks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway is a dream come true.
“I tested a few years ago in the ARCA Racing Series at Daytona and was anticipating racing myself,” recalled Marks. “However, I decided to take a step back from my own racing career and help launch the racing careers of my son and daughter. I don’t take any of that back for a second. The timing was right for us to be here now, so here we are. This weekend is going to be a proud moment for me, my family, our marketing partners and everyone else who makes Tony Marks Racing possible.”
He added, “Maryeve is the real deal. We’ve tested the heck out of her the last month or so and she’s done a tremendous job. Her throttle response is impressive and her feedback is that of a veteran. She is so determined. You can see in her the desire and passion for racing in all that she does and you know that she is building every day in her quest to reach her ultimate goal of racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). I’m very delighted to have her behind the wheel of the No. 12 Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger.”
To help develop a new fan-base and center some attentiveness on their new marketing partners, Tony Marks Racing will carry an on-board camera for Saturday’s anticipated thriller. The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 will mark the second consecutive year that a female has hosted an on-board camera.
“I’m very appreciative to carry an on-board camera not only to represent our marketing partners and team but the ARCA Racing Series as well,” Dufault sounded. “Hopefully we’ll be able to provide some excellent video for the race fans and supporters who are watching at the track and at home.”
Veteran NASCAR spotter Mike Calinoff will help guide the avid open-wheeler in her ARCA Racing Series debut. And despite being one of six females to test in January at the “World Center of Racing”, Dufault will be joined by one other female for the first of two restrictor plate events this season.
The first official week of February will be a busy one for TMR. In addition to competition at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Jared Marks, the son of car owner Tony Marks, will be competing at New Smyrna (Fla.) International Speedway in his No. 5 Dodge-backed Super Late Model (SLM) and Crate Late Model (CLM) divisions beginning on Friday, February 11, 2011.
The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 48th ARCA race held at Daytona is a three-day show. Practice begins Thursday, February 10 with a four hour practice session planned from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for Friday, February 11 slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. A forty-five minute final practice session is etched in on Saturday, February 12th from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. The event will take the green flag later that day shortly after 4:30 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com <http://www.arcaracing.com/> . NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Florida (February 10, 2011) - - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, Jared Marks found himself nose deep in the pressure of keeping a strong sophomore academic record alive at Napoleon High School. But starting Thursday and for nine additional nights, Marks will shift his focus to his passion of racing at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway for the 45th Annual World Series in the Super Late Model (SLM) and Crate Late Model (CLM) divisions respectively.
Though never having the opportunity to actual race at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway, Marks care of his Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team spent their off-season profusely getting the 16-year old development driver accustomed to the tricky short track’s demeanor. In addition to his Late Model, Marks even tested the heavier 3,400-pound ARCA stock car, gathering a feel for the heavier machine as he’ll take to the diverse tour later this season.
When the first green flag flies on Friday night, February 11th, Marks in his No. 5 Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger looks for consistency and comfort to set the tone for the short track version of Speedweeks 2011 with crew chief Jamie Roulo on top of the box, calling the shots.
“Testing went well despite the rain we faced,” offered Marks, a second-generation racer. “We gained a lot of knowledge during the test that I think will be useful for all nine days of competition.”
The youngster also commented on working alongside his newest friend, Roulo. “I’m looking forward to having Jamie on our side at New Smyrna. I’m counting on him to critique me all the way around. I want to know when I’m doing something right and I definitely want to know when I’m doing something wrong. His help will only make me a better driver.”
It’s a big week for the Marks family. While Jared Marks is hoping to nestle into a comfortable presence at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway, his father Tony Marks will be eyeing a successful season opener in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, approximately 15 miles southwest of New Smyrna with his TMR teammate Maryeve Dufault.
“I’m really proud of everything my dad has accomplished in such a short time with TMR,” continued the younger Marks, who himself tested competitively in an ARCA car at the 2.5-mile monster superspeedway last month. “He is a very busy guy, but he has really done a lot to not only support my racing career but help bring other drivers racing dreams come true. I hope it’s going to be a good couple weeks for TMR.”
Once the ARCA Racing Series season-opener is in the books, Jared Marks will have the solo support of his father at his side striving to make him proud by accomplishing his own personal goal.
“My goal is to survive all nine nights,” Marked offered. “I want to look at the whole nine nights as one big race in both divisions. If we can finish all the races, than I will be extremely satisfied with our effort. Without a doubt, we are capable of winning and that’s what I want to do for everyone at TMR, but I’m also trying to be realistic and not set the goals too high for myself. Focus is my determination and finishing will be my strength onto the next one (race).”
To further aid him in his trial and tribulations at New Smyrna, Jarit Johnson, brother of five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jimmie Johnson and an avid race car driver himself will be on-hand to critique and steer Marks in the right direction.
“Jarit is just like one of us,” Marks commented. “He’s a great guy who wants to race. I am very thankful to him for caring so much about my racing career and program. He’s definitely taught me some things over the last week or two and I know I will only continue to learn more as I converse with him.”
For Johnson, himself a competitive racer, his early intuition of Marks reminds him a lot of himself.
“Jared is a good kid,” said Johnson, who also hails starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. “I’m all about helping. Jared does a good job listening and asking questions and that is one of the necessities of being an up and coming driver. It should be a fun week at New Smyrna.”
In addition to running a limited Late Model schedule this year across the Country, the Napoleon, Ohio native will also compete in a second part-time ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards entry for Tony Marks Racing tentatively set to liftoff from Salem (Ind.) Speedway on May 1, 2011.

- The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will take nearly an eight week pause before action resumes at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Friday, April 15th, 2011 live on SPEED.

-
VR-12 is manufactured by Freezetone® Products, USA, leader in International car maintenance products and environmentally safe solutions. Luis M. Latour, President, has 30 years of experience in manufacturing ecological products for the automotive industry. With his team of experts, he was able to develop a solution that saves consumers money while at the same time lessening the environmental damage caused by most automotive chemical solutions.
-
VR-12 is a revolutionary green product that is used to guard against coolant problems. This new invention is the ultimate cooling system protection. It is like a vitamin for cooling systems, composed of organic components and mixed through a synergetic process.
-
“We’re very excited about today’s announcement with VR-12,” said Tony Marks, owner of TMR.
-
For Dufault, a native of Sorel, Quebec Canada the opportunity to work with a growing company like VR-12 fits right into her spectrum.
- Vehicle maintenance is important, especially as consumers are postponing buying new cars in a recovering economy.
- The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 48th ARCA race held at Daytona is a three-day show. The event will take the green flag later today shortly after 4:30 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

- Now that she is solidly in the show, Dufault and her Larry Moore-led crew will turn their attention to tomorrow morning’s “Happy Hour” drafting session, which will allow the avid open-wheeler to get a jump-start on drafting in preparation for her inaugural superspeedway debut.
Immediately after “Happy Hour” but before Dufault straps in her No. 12 Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger Saturday afternoon for the first of 19 events of the year, she will be joined by car owner Tony Marks and a special guest in the Daytona (Fla.) Maryeve Dufault Looking To Earn Respect, Trust
And Creditability In Daytona Debut
“Upcoming Driver Has Shot At Becoming ARCA’s First Female Winner”
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (February 9, 2011) - - It was evident when the three-day open test for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards concluded at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway last month that the series’ newest team and driver were bound and determined to be contenders.
-

- Tony Marks Racing (TMR) and Rookie of the Year candidate Maryeve (pronounced Mary-EV) Dufault (pronounced DU-FAU) will look to keep their momentum train rolling and put their No. 12 Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger on the map when the ARCA Racing Series kicks off their season on Saturday afternoon with the running of the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200.
-
- Armed with the ageless Larry Moore as their crew chief, Dufault and the TMR team head to the newly re-paved superspeedway looking to kick off their inaugural season on the right foot but also gain the Canadian some attention and experience at one of the series’ most prestigious race tracks.
- “This is an incredible opportunity and I surely want to make the best of it,” said Dufault, who joins the ARCA Racing Series tour after a stint in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 and a successful and impressive career in Formula cars. “We had a very productive test and I’m extremely optimistic about the race.”
- Even though Dufault, a native of Sorel, Quebec, and TMR realize that they have a fast Dodge nameplate with horsepower from Illmor Engineering, the yellow stripe indicating rookie status on the back bumper of Dufault’s Charger could be her biggest downfall. Still, the team is hoping to show in practice on Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning that even though she may be a rookie, she has a feel and a sense for what is going on around her.
- “Daytona will be my first restrictor plate race,” offered Dufault, who currently resides in Redondo Beach, California. “That’s pretty intense for any rookie, but I have a strong team centered on giving me the best they can and in return I’m going to give them 150 percent behind the wheel.”
- For car owner and Ohio entrepreneur Tony Marks, the realization of having his own team competing on the high banks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway is a dream come true.
- “I tested a few years ago in the ARCA Racing Series at Daytona and was anticipating racing myself,” recalled Marks.
- He added, “Maryeve is the real deal.
- To help develop a new fan-base and center some attentiveness on their new marketing partners, Tony Marks Racing will carry an on-board camera for Saturday’s anticipated thriller. The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 will mark the second consecutive year that a female has hosted an on-board camera.
- “I’m very appreciative to carry an on-board camera not only to represent our marketing partners and team but the ARCA Racing Series as well,” Dufault sounded. “Hopefully we’ll be able to provide some excellent video for the race fans and supporters who are watching at the track and at home.”
- Veteran NASCAR spotter Mike Calinoff will help guide the avid open-wheeler in her ARCA Racing Series debut. And despite being one of six females to test in January at the “World Center of Racing”, Dufault will be joined by one other female for the first of two restrictor plate events this season.
- The first official week of February will be a busy one for TMR.
- The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 48th ARCA race held at Daytona is a three-day show. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. Tony Marks Racing Completes First Test for 2011
Dufault, Marks and Austin Turn Laps at New Smyrna
Toledo, OH (Dec. 15, 2010) –Tony Marks Racing (TMR) got their pre-season testing off to a great
start after a three-day test at New Smyrna Speedway with drivers Maryeve Dufault, Jared Marks and
Chase Austin at the wheel of the both a late model and ARCA car.
The test was intended to provide Dufault and Marks an opportunity to get familiar with the ARCA car
and get some valuable seat time as TMR prepares their 2011 campaign. Under the watchful eye of
veteran crew chief Larry Moore, Austin took the first laps in the ARCA car, shaking it down and
making certain that it was dialed in prior to Dufault and Marks taking the wheel.
“This was only the 2nd time in the ARCA car for me but it all came back pretty easy,” said Austin. “I
just shook down the car to get a good baseline so that Maryeve and Jared could run without worrying
about anything but getting familiar with the ARCA car. They both did a good job. I was impressed
with how well they did and despite the rain, it was a successful test.”
Crew chief Larry Moore planned the test so that Dufault and Marks could run quite a few laps in the
CRA Late Model car and learn the ½ mile oval of New Smyrna before moving into the ARCA car. “We
came into the weekend with the goal being to get Maryeve and Jared familiar and comfortable in the
ARCA car,” explained Moore. “I was impressed with how smooth and calm they both were when we
moved to the ARCA car as that is really something you can’t teach a driver. They both handled the
ARCA car really well and I was impressed with how quickly they picked up on the weight and
horsepower of the car. It’s nice to leave a test and say there was no drama with the drivers or the
cars.”
For Dufault, the test was a good opportunity to get seat time in the ARCA car and begin to learn the
nuances of the stock car. “I am really very happy with the whole weekend,” said Dufault at the close
of the test. “The team did a great job and we communicated really well. I was really happy to adapt
so quickly to the 800 HP ARCA car and the test has really boosted my confidence going into the
Daytona test in January.”
Marks started the weekend running the CRA Late Model that TMR plans to enter for the 2011
season. “The test started off really well, we were fast in the late model right out of the trailer so that
was nice,” explained Marks. “I’m going to be running Speedweeks at New Smyrna in February so it
was nice to get a chance to run this track and fine tune the car and start getting ready for the Crate
Late Model and Super Late Model events.” Marks also got his first opportunity to test the ARCA car
on Sunday. “I wanted to get my feet wet in the ARCA car,” said Marks. “It’s very different than the
late model with a lot more horsepower and a heavier car so it was nice to get a feel for the car and
get a little seat time. I am looking forward to doing some more testing in the ARCA car as the season
goes forward.”
The team has now returned to their shop in Toledo, Ohio where preparations for their next test at the
Daytona International Speedway January 11-13, 2011 are underway. “Now we’re going to spend the
next few weeks going over the cars and making sure we’re ready to go testing in January,” said
Moore. “Even though we have a lot of work on our plates, I think we are just thrilled to be here and
get to work with Maryeve and Jared and watch their careers grow.”
The team is slated to run the full 19 race season in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards
with Dufault. Additional team plans for 2011 include entries for additional drivers in select ARCA
Racing Series events. TMR will also enter Jared Marks in a full schedule of late model racing in CRA
and ASA and is exploring the possibility of limited Nationwide Series schedule.

Tony Marks Racing Announces New ARCA Racing Series Team for 2011 Season
Canadian Maryeve Dufault to Pilot the Entry
Toledo, OH (Dec. 7, 2010) –Tony Marks Racing (TMR) announced today the intent to run a full
season in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards with Canadian driver Maryeve Dufault
piloting the No. 50 TMR entry. At the helm of the team will be owner Tony Marks, while day to day
operations will be overseen by veteran crew chief Larry Moore, who will manage the car preparations
out of the teams shop in Toledo, Ohio.
Team Owner Tony Marks has been involved in a variety of racing endeavors over the past 25 years
and after a late season ARCA Series test at Rockingham Speedway he was keen to expand his
racing operation. “Last season tested at Rockingham Speedway and saw very promising results,” said Marks. “Through our relationship with Dodge and our interest in expanding our racing program,
we were presented with an opportunity and pursued conversations with Maryeve to join our team and
put together a full season entry for 2011. Maryeve had displayed great ability in her outing at
Montreal and we look forward to putting her in the position to be successful in 2011 with the Tony
Marks Racing team.”
Canadian native and Los Angeles resident Maryeve Dufault has an extensive racing background in a
variety of series such as NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, Late Model, Rotax International Karting
Series, Formula Jim Russell, Skip Barber Series, Formula BMW USA and the Star Mazda
Championship. In addition to her racing pursuits, Dufault has also used her racing skills as a
stuntwoman and precision driver for a variety of companies. Dufault’s racing career took off last
season after showing promise driving the No. 10 Dodge Avenger in the Trois-Rivières and Montreal
rounds of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Dufault was sponsored by the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge,
and Ram Quebec Dealers Association for the 2010 Canadian events and despite a tough outing in
the Montreal race where she finished her day with heavy contact and was unable to complete the
race, her driving skill impressed a Dodge racing representative who then facilitated an introduction to
Tony Marks Racing.
“2010 was a great season for me as I got the opportunity to drive for the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and
Ram Quebec Dealers Association in the Trois-Rivières and Montreal NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
races,” said Dufault. “Although I was disappointed in the end result of the Montreal race, it opened
the door to a huge opportunity for me with Dodge and Tony Marks Racing for 2011. After last
season, I do have some experience in the stock cars but I know that I have a lot to learn and I am
looking forward to testing and getting prepared for the 2011 season. Tony has put together a very
professional group of people and I think we will progress quickly during our tests and be prepared to
start the 2011 season very competitively.”
The team will begin their 2011 preparations in earnest with a three day closed test scheduled for
December 11-13, 2010 at the ½ mile oval at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
During the three day test, the team plans to run Maryeve Dufault in the ARCA entry as well as test
driver Jared Marks, son of team owner Tony Marks, in both an ARCA and late model car. The team
will continue their testing program at the ARCA Series test at the Daytona International Speedway
January 11-13, 2011 in preparation for the season opening ARCA event on February 12.
Sponsorship and car
livery for the Tony Marks Racing ARCA entry will be unveiled prior the season opening event that will
be held at Daytona International Speedway on February 12, 2011.

Maryeve Dufault sponsored by Dodge for NASCAR Canadian Tire
Trois-Rivières and Montreal Rounds
Montréal, August 10, 2010 — The Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram Quebec Dealers recently concluded an agreement with racecar driver Maryeve Dufault. The Quebec native will drive the number 10 Dodge Avenger during the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series rounds scheduled for the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix on August 13 to 15, and the Autopro 100 race to be held on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, August 28 and 29.
A native of Sorel, Maryeve Dufault discovered her passion for racing at a young age. Like her father and brother, she began her career in motocross before moving to karting and single-seat racecars. The Quebec-born driver has also competed in the Jim Russell and Skip Barber Series, the Star Mazda Championship and Formula BMW USA. In addition to her career as a driver, Maryeve also uses her talents as a stuntwoman in Hollywood films and works as a precision driver for automotive and motorcycle companies. She currently resides in California.
“We are pleased to work in collaboration with the FAZZT Race Team in their Driver Development Program,” said Jean Gosselin, President of the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram Quebec Dealer’s Association. “With Dodge acting as the presenting sponsor of the NAPA Auto Parts 200 in Montréal and contributing to the growth of high caliber car racing in Quebec, the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram Quebec Dealer’s Association focus their attention on young upcoming Quebec drivers. Beside sponsoring Maryeve Dufault, we are also involved with Andrew Ranger who will be driving the number 27 Dodge, sponsored by the Dealer’s Association, in the Trois-Rivières and Montréal events.
“As a mater of fact, we believe that it is a privilege to be associated with Quebec drivers that show an extreme passion for the sport they love, are highly motivated, and are always ready for a new challenge. At Dodge and its dealers, we know all about challenges.”
“This is an great opportunity for me“ said Maryeve Dufault, who is part of the driver development program with FAZZT Race Team. “I was so thrilled to learn that Dodge had come on board that I could not believe it. I have worked so hard to advance my career over the past few years. To have the Quebec Dodge Dealers Association sponsor me for these two races is a dream come true.”
In order to familiarize herself with the number 10 Dodge Avenger prepared by Derek White Racing, Maryeve tested, under the supervision of racer coach Alex Tagliani, during the month of July on the ICAR road circuit in Mirabel. The young driver was very satisfied and surprised by how well the car handled.
“When I first tested the Dodge Avenger, I liked how it reacted, but it was a far cry from what I was used to in a formula car. At first, I was pushing too far, a bit like what you do in open-wheel racing. Then, I realized that I would have to listen to the car to get the most out of it. Trois-Rivières will be my first NASCAR experience. I know that there is a lot of things I need to learn in this type of racing, but I am a very competitive. That’s why I chose to be a racecar driver.”
Maryeve will make her NASCAR debut at the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix on Sunday, August 15. The 3:30 p.m. start, a 43-lap race on the cement wall lined street circuit, will be the first big test for the Sorel driver. Practice and qualifying for the eighth round of the Canadian Tire Championship will take place on Saturday.
For the Montreal race, the start of the 25-lap NAPA Autopro 100 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the tenth stop on the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire series calendar, is scheduled for Sunday, August 29 at 11:45 a.m.

F3
British / Canadian impresses on Litespeed debut.
January 7, 2009 - Canadian Maryeve Dufault created a strong impression
on her first outing in an F3 car with Litespeed.
Unheralded Canadian Maryeve Dufault set tongues wagging in more
ways than one as she became the latest candidate to sample Litespeed
F3's unique SLC R1 chassis ahead of a possible switch to the British
F3 Championship next season.
The
attractive Star Mazda and FBMW graduate joined the team at Snetterton
to get a taste of F3 before the testing window closed for the winter,
bringing a genetic streak that has seen her father and elder brother
enjoy motorsport success at national level, and impressed Litespeed
technical director Steve Kenchington with both her initial pace
and feedback despite being unfamiliar with either car or circuit.
"We were delighted with Maryeve's test results," Kenchington
said, "She had never driven in the wet before, but applied
a professional and methodical approach in making the step into a
British F3 car, focusing on learning the track and the challenge
of driving in the unfamiliar conditions."
Such
was the impact of Dufault's debut that the team is keen to run her
again with a view to a possible entry in next season's championship.
Litespeed is hoping to ramp up its involvement after a toe in the
water exercise in 2008, and is looking to the experience of former
national and international class champion Robbie Kerr to help develop
the SLC R1 in the intervening months.
"Litespeed
and Maryeve have a long future ahead, not least because she demonstrated
great technical competence and understanding," Kenchington
added, "With more seat time, she will have the opportunity
to fulfil her potential and we are thrilled that that will be with
Litespeed."
Stunning pole position for Maryeve Dufault
California resident Maryeve Dufault is a talented and dedicated kart racer. She proved it once again when she captured pole position ahead of several, more experienced competitors in a Rotax kart race.
The young racer of the SCC racing team enjoyed two good practice sessions in the morning as she worked on improving her chassis before the qualifying effort.
“I had some over steer coming out of the corners this morning,” she said. “I tried to correct it for the qualifying effort. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find a clean lap in the traffic. The qualifying session was only five minutes long and I had to produce a good lap quickly to start from pole position.”
She eventually qualified in 4 th place. It was very tight at the top of the timing sheet with only half a second separating the top five qualifiers. Pole position went to three-time Rotax International Champion, Michael Leib.
Maryeve was ready for a great start in the pre-finale. “My goal was to try to get at the front of the pack quickly in the race,” she said. “I knew Michael and I would be quick at the start, as well as two other drivers. I did not want to be caught behind slower drivers for too long.”
At the start, she blasted from 4 th to third and managed to pass Erik Jackson in the inside on the second lap. She was now running in second place and was ready to give Leib a run for his money. She managed to pass him to take the lead.
“I knew I had to stay really focused when I took the lead and make no mistakes because Michael Leib was right behind me,” she explained.
She crossed the line in first place, taking victory in the pre-finale and finishing 3/10ths of a second ahead of Leib. The sensational win gave Dufault pole position for the finale.
However, her race was short lived, unfortunately. She lost her neck collar during the race and she was therefore given a black flag.
“It was a really upsetting situation as it was a really banal incident that ruined my race,” she declared afterwards. “However, the rules are the rules and anyone who’d have had the same problem would have been black flagged. I’m already looking forward to the next race.”
Spectacular debuts for Maryeve Dufault with CRG karting
Maryeve collects one victory and three podiums in the month of May.
To keep fit physically and mentally, racecar driver Maryeve Dufault races karts during her spare times. Since April, she has been competing for the famed Italian kart manufacturer CRG.
Maryeve races in the hotly disputed Rotax DD2 series in California. This category features spec 125cc Rotax engines that are fitted with paddle-activated two-speed gearboxes. These purebred racing machines are shod on slick tires; they are capable of stunning accelerations and breathtaking corning speeds.
Competing for the new structure, the CRG SSC Team, Maryeve had some great battles and she earned a victory in just her second race.
"I’ve raced with a Birel chassis for a long time before I tested the CRG kart in April with SSC Racing,” the young lady said. “I was a great test session and I had a nice opportunity offer to me to race with them.”
Maryeve was obviously delighted with her maiden victory.
“CRG is a great chassis and the SSC team provides me with great support as well as a very competitive package,” she said.
“I am obviously extremely happy with the outcome of this race as I finish in the victory lane. Scoring victory in just my second outing confirm that I took the right decision. I'm still learning a few things about the chassis and the SSC team gives me extremely valuable advice and support. These guys have been great and they are true professionals.”

A FINE TOP 5 FINISH
Sebring
International Raceway, Florida
4th and 5th races of 2008
It
has been for me a great weekend of racing in Sebring, Florida on
February 15 and 16.
It
was my first time at the famed Sebring International Raceway. For
that reason, I knew I had a lot to learn in very little time. Sebring
is the track where is held each year the famous 12 Hour of Sebring
endurance event. It’s a 3.7-mile road course made of 17 turns.
I
tried to learn the layout of the circuit as quickly as possible
during the first outing without trying to push too hard. Unfortunately,
my car suffered from some mechanical problems during the second
practice and the qualifying session. I tried my best to drive the
problem around, but it was impossible. The organizers gave me a
make-up session on Saturday morning along with few other drivers
that also had issues with their cars as well.
I
qualified in 8th place for the first race of the weekend. I had
a great start and by Turn 7, I was already running in 3rd place.
Meanwhile, the two leading guys were fighting pretty hard. I was
getting ready to make a pass and I decided to wait for the right
moment. Unfortunately, Barcena hit me from behind and the impact
threw me off course. I was really frustrated because I had such
a great start.
I
had to pit to have the car checked out, and that dropped me back
into 18th position. There were only six laps to go in the race.
I managed to pass about eight cars and finished 10th overall.
My
starting position in the second race of the weekend was the finishing
position of my first race. At the start, the car in front of me
slowed me down. I had nowhere to go, and that ruined my hopes of
passing several cars right at the beginning of the race. That made
me lose touch with the front-runners. But it was a very good race
without any yellows. I pushed hard, won a few good battles and made
it into the top 5.
“The
fact is, some races are processional and so it was for Group 4’s
second race,” said the official series’ press release.
“The top five drivers – Bumgarner, Bartlett, Durango,
Kristian and Dufault – ran that way from lap 3 onward. Richard
Schwyn had a fine drive from 11th to sixth, with Hagerman, Barcena,
Dominic Lamanna and Pasquale rounding out top 10.”

12-hour Enduro Le Mans
A
few weekends ago, I had the chance to compete in my first 12-hour
go-kart endurance race. It was a fantastic experience and I realised
how much I love endurance racing.
My
teammates were Boris Said (NASCAR driver), Colin Fleming (who competes
in the GP2 series in Europe), Sam Hubinette (Drifting driver), Tanner
Foust (X-games rally gold medallist),Arie Banquet and Britanny Reed.
Britanny is the daughter of Mike Reed, who’s been in motorsport
for over 35 years, working for A. J. Foyt and Tom Sneva among others,
as well as being the owner of his own U.S.A.C. midgets.
We
were the pro team with 11 other teams that consisted of four to
six drivers. Everyone did a tremendous job. We encountered a few
obstacles, but it was part of the fun. This endurance race was also
great occasion as well and a portion of the proceed went to "Make
a Wish Foundation".
Every
team member drove from 30 to 90 minutes at the time. My turn came
at night around 4 am and I drove for 1h42 minutes non-stop! Our
kart didn't had the best speed but it had great turn-in, so this
is were I could gain some time over the other teams. I didn't sleep
at all nor took a nap. I was suffering from a cold and I knew that
if I would sleep I’d wake up not feeling so good. So I decided
to stay up.
My
lap times were consistent during my entire stint. Even on my last
lap I felt strong and not fatigued. I surprised myself with how
much endurance I had. I guess my really hard core training helped
me to get at that level of my fitness.
At
one point, I had to fight for position with Craig Stanton. We were
having a blast out there and we were passing each other back and
forth. I gained several positions but got some aggressive drivers
not braking and banging into me. It got me frustrated at certain
moments.
Mike
Reed was nevertheless impressed by Maryeve’s driving abilities.
“Maryeve, an up-and-coming Indy Pro Driver, was one of the
fastest drivers out on the race track,” he said. “She
drove non-stop for a long period of time and her lap times never
dropped below the 20-second mark. In fact, she did a 19.4 which
was one of the fastest lap of the entire race. That made her the
fastest driver of the pro team.”
By
the end of the event, Tanner Foust was driving for us but he was
tapping his helmet on the pit straight, meaning he needed a change
driver. We gained one position and we were now running in 6th place.
For the last 35 minutes of the race, the team decided to have me
drive because I was the fastest driver of the pro team. The goal
was to keep 6th place but the team that was in 7th position didn't
need to stop again…
We
eventually lost that 6th place since that competitor was running
right behind Tanner. I had a lap to warm up my tire and I started
to fight. I was catching him up, but a lapped driver messed up my
game a little bit. I got stuck behind him a little bit too long
and I lost touch with him.
But
overall it was a lot of fun for a great occasion. Every driver did
a great job out there and we made a great team. I'm really happy
I competed into it.
“Maryeve
is not only a great person on and off the race track but she also
has the looks to go with her talent,” Mike Reed declared after
the event. “My daughter just loves her and if she can grow
up to be like Maryeve even if Brittany doesn't become a race car
driver, she will be a better person. I wish Maryeve the best of
luck next year. And I know Brittany will be watching her.”
Now,
I'm ready to compete in an endurance race like the 24 Hour Rolex
or 12 Hour of Sebring.

Laguna Seca, close to a win"
Brian
Skinner and Kevin Tittle ducked it out until Tittle spun and fell
off the road on lap 12. After two laps of full-course caution to
get Tittle’s car out of the gravel trap, Maryeve Dufault got
around Kevin Woods and then Skinner to take the lead and crossed
the finish in first place. However, Maryeve was handed a 15-sec
time penalty, and she was eventually classified seventh.
Skinner
inherited the win – his first – with Ethan Stone coming
in second and Fabrice Weill, third. Traver was given a penalty for
contact with Kevin Woods, and ended up 10th. When it all shook out,
fourth was Walter Kuhn, with Sunho Lee and Ryan Burns fifth and
sixth, respectively. John Candeias and Michael rounded out the Top
10.
"It
was a great weekend with several obstacles for me. My first qualifying
session didn't go well since I dropped four wheels off the pavement
and had to start the race from the back of the pack. I took the
lead near the end of the race, but I was given a penalty that unfortunately
caused me the victory. I was black flagged on the last lap. I pushed
hard to stretch my lead. So if I they gave me a time penalty, I
would not lose too many positions.”
“I
later competed in another race with a different group of drivers.
I was forced to start from the back of the pack since I didn't run
the qualifying session. I started the race in 14th, and near the
end I was running in third. I had to perform several difficult passes
and be careful because the strict sporting regulations can make
you lose a race quickly.
At
one point, we had a caution period that allowed me to tuck just
behind Ian Costa for the restart. At the green, I passed him in
turn one. I was now in second place, chasing for the lead and trying
to keep my position. Everything was going much faster since I wasn’t
running in traffic. Unfortunately, I pushed hard to pass him in
Turn 10 but dropped wheels off the course, which caused me another
penalty. Regional races tend to be a little stricter from a driving
point of view. But it was a great weekend. I had a lot of fun and
passing so many cars was tremendous. It gave me great experience
with driving in traffic and passing at the right moment. I decided
to race with Skip Barber because it's always a great series to start
the year with some practice."

Movie " FAST GIRL"
Determined
to make a name for herself in the male-dominated sport that recently
claimed the life of her talented father, a young female race car
driver with a lead foot and love for speed punches the gas and never
looks back in this family-oriented sports drama.
Starring
Mircea Monroe and Justin Guarini, “Fast Girl” is about
a young girl, Alexis "Alex" Johnstone (played by Mircea
Monroe), who knows she is destined to become a true motorsport champion.
But Alex's uncle Bill (played by Dwier Brown) is the man in charge
of the local speedway, and there's no way he's going to lose another
relative on a racetrack.
As
determined as Bill is to prevent his niece from crashing and burning
behind the wheel of a race car, however, Alex is equally resolute
to prove that she has what it takes to keep pace with the best male
drivers around. Later, as Alex becomes involved with a professional
race car driver (played by Guarini) who has a reputation for always
crossing the checkered flag first, the young girl's conflict proves
much more complex than simple black and white.
Race
car driver Maryeve Dufault did the stunt work for Alex, the female
driver. “We did most of the stunt work at Willow Spring,”
Dufault said. “It wasn't my first time doing stunt work, so
I had some experience and I understood the camera work and positioning.
It was a lot of fun.”
Dufault
also had the chance to work with actress Mircea Monroe. “It
was great! I had the chance to discuss with her and to show her
a few little tips about how a driver would do certain things. I
think she did a great job in this movie.”

Phenom
Racing Group Begins Testing for 2007 Championship.
Maryeve Dufault completes test at Buttonwillow Raceway Park
Benicia, California. Phenom Racing Group has begun testing in earnest
for the 2007 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, recently
completing a test at Buttonwillow Raceway Park with Montreal, Canada
resident Maryeve Dufault.
Dufault, has participated in a limited racing schedule the past
two seasons, competing in the Canadian Grand Prix round of the 2005
Star Mazda Championship and select Formula BMW USA events in 2006.
With this limited seat time, Dufault was happy to get some off-season
testing under her belt in the #92 Phenom Racing Group Molecule Mazda.
“It was a pleasure testing with Phenom Racing Group and I’m
impressed with the professionalism of the organization,” Dufault
commented. “When I’ve raced in the past I’ve had
makeshift seats that haven’t fit quite right, but Phenom built
a seat just for me and really took the time to get me fitted to
the car properly, which helped throughout the test as I could feel
what the car was doing.
The coaching they provided during the test allowed me to continue
to build up speed and I look forward to working with them again.”
Phenom Racing Group team manager Pete Mercier offered praise to
Dufault. “Maryeve did and excellent job during the test for
a driver with limited driving time,” Mercier explained. “She
responded well to the coaching and was able to improve throughout
the day.”
Team Principal Michael Guasch is also optimistic for the upcoming
season. “2006 marked the debut of Phenom Racing Group and
the team fared well in the ultra-competitive Star Mazda Championship
with team driver John Faulkner just missing out on the Masters Championship,”
Guasch explained. “Now with a full season behind us, and the
team established, we can spend this off-season making the cars and
drivers even faster.”
